A colonoscopy is a medical examination in which the doctor views the entire colon and the last part of the small intestine (the ileum) with a colonoscope. This flexible instrument with a camera at the end allows imaging the inside of the intestines and detecting any abnormalities in time.

This is done using a colonoscope - a flexible instrument with a camera at the end - which carefully views the intestinal wall.The goal is to timely detect abnormalities such as polyps, inflammation, bleeding or tumours. During the examination, minor interventions, such as the removal of polyps or the taking of a biopsy, can also be carried out if necessary. For complaints such as prolonged abdominal pain, blood in the stool or an increased risk of bowel cancer, a colonoscopy offers clarity and helps detect problems in time.
