EMG Neurology

An EMG (electromyography) is a neurological examination that measures the electrical activity of muscles and nerves. It is done with tiny needles and mild current pulses, allowing us to check how well the nerves transmit signals to the muscles.

What exactly does that mean?

Our strength is that you can consult a team of specialists during one appointment, as well as have a battery of medical examinations. Our team of specialists includes a cardiologist, internist gastroenterologist, vascular surgeon, urologist, nose-throat-ear specialist and gynaecologist. The screening is followed by a discussion with the specialist and, at the latest within a week, a complete medical report with the results and your personal recommendations (e.g. adjusting lifestyle, starting medication, referral to another specialist or for further examination, etc.).

Why an EMG?

An EMG (electromyography) is a neurological examination that measures the electrical activity of muscles and nerves. It is done with tiny needles and mild current pulses, allowing us to check how well the nerves transmit signals to the muscles. The goal? An EMG is requested for complaints such as tingling, muscle weakness, loss of sensation or radiating pain in arms or legs. It helps detect conditions such as nerve entrapment (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome), herniated discs, nerve damage or muscle diseases. This allows the correct diagnosis to be made and an appropriate treatment programme to be initiated.

Do you have complaints or is it time for a general check-up?

An EMG can provide important clues to detect any health problems early.
