Gastroscopy
A gastroscopy is an examination in which the doctor views the oesophagus, stomach and first part of the small intestine through a thin, flexible tube with a camera. The examination is performed if there are complaints such as reflux, stomach pain or nausea, or if ulcers, bleeding or inflammation are suspected. Tissue samples (biopsies) may also be taken during the gastroscopy if necessary, for example to detect conditions such as celiac disease or an H. pylori infection.
