On this basis, a complete picture of the state of health emerges, providing direction for planning appropriate follow-up examinations.

When do you need a gynaecological examination?

Are you experiencing menstrual problems, lower abdominal pain or other gynaecological symptoms? A consultation with the gynaecologist helps assess these symptoms and initiate the right treatment. Regular check-ups are important to detect conditions early and prevent serious complications, such as:

Complaints during menstruation - Irregular, heavy or painful periods may indicate conditions such as endometriosis or fibroids.Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) - This can be caused by infections, vaginal dryness or other medical conditions.Vaginal infections - Symptoms such as itching, burning or abnormal discharge may indicate a fungal or bacterial infection.Pregnancy wish - Difficulties in getting pregnant often require a gynaecological examination to identify the possible causes.Transitional complaints - Hot flushes, night sweats and mood swings can be a consequence of menopause.Problems with pelvic floor - Complaints such as urinary incontinence or a pressing sensation in the vagina may indicate prolapse.Abnormal smear - An abnormal result may indicate cellular changes that require further investigation.Lower abdominal pain - Persistent or severe abdominal pain can have several causes, including gynaecological conditions.

Intervening in time, focusing on your health

Many gynaecological conditions can be well treated or even prevented with timely follow-up and regular check-ups. It is therefore important not to postpone an examination, especially if there are symptoms or an increased risk due to hereditary predisposition, hormonal changes or previous health problems. Early diagnosis makes all the difference: it prevents complications, relieves symptoms and gives peace of mind.

How does a gynaecology consultation take place?

1. Intake & Anamnesis

A gynaecological consultation starts with a conversation in which the doctor or nurse asks questions about your periods, pregnancies, contraception, sexual health, any complaints and your medical history. This allows the doctor to get a full and personal picture of your health

2. Gynaecological examination

If necessary, an additional examination follows, such as an internal examination, smear test, ultrasound or other tests (e.g. STD screening). This is always done in a safe and respectful environment, with clear explanations at each step. The aim is to accurately chart your gynaecological health and detect any problems in time.

3. Results & Advice

After the examination, the doctor will discuss the findings with you. If necessary, a follow-up plan is drawn up for further follow-up, treatment or prevention. You will receive tailored advice on topics such as menstruation, fertility, menopause or contraception. The medical report is then made available in your eHealth or CoZo file.
